New Pleasurekraft: Spring Mix + Song

When asked, who is Pleasurekraft, the two men would answer Kaveh Soroush & Kalle Ronngardh’s baby (immaculately conceived of course). Pleasurekraft is a simultaneously visceral and cerebral experience induced only by the seductive, deep, groove heavy, underground techno inspired music that you hear the kids listening to .. – Common side effects include: unrelenting head bobbing giving way to complete surrender to physical movement commonly referred to as ‘dancing’.

In all honesty, I cannot get enough of their music and when I found this Spring Mix on their Soundcloud I was eager to put it up.  They also just released a remix of Sneaky Sound System’s We Love. These guys will be in attendance at EDC on the Saturday, what an epic set it will be.

Timeflies – Never Grow Up

Timeflies is a multi-faceted music duo featuring DJ/Producer Rob Resnick and vocalist Cal. They are based in Boston, but the guys are originally from New Jersey and New York. Using select elements of pop, hip-hop, electro, dubstep, and rock, Timeflies has escaped genre limitations. The duo plays shows across the country and is currently working on new tracks in the studio.

This is like the old Vitamin C Graduation song except on crack.

OOAH – The Love I Need

Dr. Oobot the subsonic scientist makes lots of noises, often times collaborating with other members of the strange and venerable The Glitch Mob (Boulder, CO). Generally Ooah aka the Mob Boss brews audio concoctions consisting of banging drum beats that range anywhere from eighty-five to one hundred and ten beats per minute, squishy gut-wrenching bass frequencies, harmonic poly-rhythmic melodies and bloopy bleepy clicks and clacks. Some might know this artist for his turntablism, others for his highly energetic and consistently danceable hybrid dj/live laptop sets.

Without a doubt one of the bigger surprises this week. Drake puts out a verse over new SUBTRKT’s “Wildfire” and murders it as expected. I’ve always said that Drake should stick to small verses and this song shows why.  Can we expect to see more rappers start this trend, well, we can only hope for it.

Lil’ Wayne Electro Game: R3K Remix

In preparation for Lil’ Waynes new album Carter IV, R3K  has remixed Lil Waynes Swag Surfin and like his last remix, it just works so well. This DJ made an imprint on the blog world with this Kid Cudi/Florence and The Machine mashup “Falling Star”. I cannot wait for Carter IV, nor can I wait for more remixes like this one from R3K.  Someone get on him, he’s not signed.

Back In A Flash: J.Cole, Cudi, Wiz

Something to chill to on for a day or two. Sit back, relax, kick it, light up.

KICK IT: Myndset and Kid MK

Foster the People’s “Pumped up Kicks” is easily one of my favorite electro songs right now.  Adding more bass in couldn’t hurt, and Myndset put some instruments to good use with his remix of the song.  What I like a little more is the dubstep remixes of the 70’s songs that have become of fad lately.  No sense in stopping too because the more I hear the more I like.  Kid MK released a slow substep remix to Bill Withers’s “Aint No Sunshine”.  Keep them coming.

Hip-Hop: Olu ft. Blue Scholars, Tayyib Ali – SUMMER JAMS

School is officially done tomorrow and off kicks summertime. Finally get to cruise back home and spend some good times in LA. I ran into some brand new tunes that give that summer vibe off. Some Olu ft. Blue Scholars and Tayyib Ali. Tayyib just released his mixtape Keystone State of Mind.

This is a shout out to the homie DK. A little guitar mixed with a little drum and bass makes for some good music. Gramatik takes a couple classics and couples them with some rhythm.

Monday Blues got you down? No need to worry, theFreshNew is introducing a new category to its repertoire: Chill.  The introduction comes after a weekend of hardcore posting, an essential break from the madness school may be putting on you.  Sit back, relax, and listen to The Knocks, an electric duo out of New York you may have heard about already.  They are the opening act for Ellie Goulding, so much can be expected from these guys.
